Lucas Magdiel

About

I am a translator and subtitler with nearly two decades of experience working with text. I hold a B.A. in Portuguese and Spanish Language and Literature from UFRJ and a postgraduate specialization in Spanish Translation from Universidade Gama Filho.

Since 2013, I have served as a translator at EBC, Brazil’s public media company, where I translate Agência Brasil news coverage into Spanish, subtitle audiovisual content for TV Brasil, and translate institutional documents. In the private sector, I am a co-founder of Ligna Traduções, a credentialed translator for Brazil’s Council of Federal Justice (CJF), and a collaborator on the international platform Blend (formerly OneHourTranslation).

Alongside languages and literature, I have a long-standing passion for IT infrastructure and technology (homelab, Linux, self-hosting, and automation). Today, I am building further on this intersection through a degree in Internet Systems Technology, applying technical solutions directly to publishing, technical translation, and audiovisual localization.
